Album Review Via Audios Animalore Album Review: Via Audios Animalore

Being that we are only in the month of March, we are probably a bit premature in saying that Via Audio‘s latest album, Animalore, should hold one of the coveted spots for the best album of the year. We’re known tend to cast bets early around here;  it’s a confident one, to be sure. The East-Coast-based band’s sophomore album dabbles in most everything they have proved to love best – modern and classic rock, varied electronic influences, and a nostalgic sixties/seventies sensibility. It’s theme is as energetic as much as it is sultry (“Hello”), mellow as much as it is quirky (“Lizard Song”), and on all fronts it is mm nom nom delish (a real definition; we looked it up). For purposes of comparison, if Oingo Boingo had come out with an album somewhere in between Only A Lad and Boi-Ngo, it probably would have aspired to scoot this one off the charts.

ViaAudio BRM 030210 Via Audio: BeatCrave Fav

Two years ago, Via Audio hit the music scene with a major slap of aural bliss in the form of their full-length album, Say Something.  Now, as March 9 is oh so close, yet oh so far, the world (well, at least the BeatCrave world) is excitedly waiting in anticipation for their follow-up LP, Animalore.

Like their lyric, “this life is so mysterious,” Via Audio creates a layered sound that seems to be keeping a really good secret while telling you one heck of a story. We at BeatCrave are super thrilled to add them to our BeatCrave Fav family and we hope you enjoy getting to know, or becoming more familiar with, Via Audio.

Know Your NYC Bands: Via Audio Interview

BeatCrave brings you band, Via Audio, as part of our Know Your NYC Bands series. Jessica Martins, Tom Deis, David Lizmi, Adam Sturtevant may all hail from Berklee College of Music but their music is far from pretentious. With indie pop songs that have dangerously smooth hooks, this Boston-to-Brooklyn band’s popularity had gone from obscure blogs to important conferences such as SXSW.

Their big break came when Jessica had gone to a Spoon concert and met up with drummer, Jim Eno. Being one who took chances, she handed him a Via Audio CD. However, it wasn’t until later that Eno had offered to help them produce their album, Say Something. Death Cab For Cutie’s Chris Walla had already been writing them up as his “new favorite band” in his Under the Radar column.
