I Promote Good Bands‘ motto is “Exposing good people to good music” and that is exactly what happened last Tuesday at The Echo. We’ve said this before but we’ll say it again: Do not skip out on shows during the week just because it’s not the weekend. You’re either missing out on free or close to free shows that are completely worth it and the line up with Tan Dollar, Pizza!, VOICEsVOICEs, and 60 Watt Kid was one that could have used a more of an audience.

The beginning of May started off with a glorious bang as we attended Avi Buffalo‘s record release show for their self-titled album via Sup Pop. As avid followers of this young band, we were excited to see how they would bode in the infamous Troubadour.
It turns out they inducted themselves into the long standing legacy which the venue holds quite well. The Wailing Wall from New York and VOICEsVOICEs of Los Angles provided support at the celebration this Saturday. Check our review and photos out below!

VOICEsVOICEs are throwing a benefit show! Filter Magazine and KLXU are even supporting the Los Angeles experimental duo and if you’re in the Los Angeles area, we think you should too! What’s this benefit show for? Well, they’re calling it the “Help VOICEsVOICEs Go On Tour Benefit Show,” so there’s your answer! Why are we making such a big deal about this event? Well, if you remember our interview with the ladies, you’d already have your answer to that as well. Experimental, ambient, euphoric are all great adjectives to describe this band so yes; we want this band to go on tour!
On February 22nd, The Smell will hold a three-band line up which includes EXITMUSIC, Black Hole Oscillators, and War Tapes. The show will feature photos and photobooth by Photos Operandi, DJ Matt Strasser of KXLU, Free Redbull, and a vegan Bake Sale by Devon and Aleksa of EXITMUSIC. Then to end the night, an LA all-star cast will do an improv collaboration set where the band in need plays with Bobb Bruno, Kate Hall (of Mika Miko), Voice On Tape, Halloween Swim Team, 60-Watt Kid, Luis and Matt (of Hello Astronaut, Goodby Television), Max (of Black Hole Oscillators), and more!

BeatCrave is proud to bring you duo, VOICEsVOICEs, as part of our Know Your LA Bands series. These two lovely ladies don’t just make “pretty” music – they create sensational, astral-projecting euphoria. Nico Turner and Jenean Farris have been compared to non-lyrical band Explosions in the Sky, yet the music of VOICEsVOICEs takes one to a whole other world. Their use of pedals, looping, spellbinding vocals, and heartrending drumming have even gotten fans to feel a sexual charge throughout their performances.
Do not underestimate this female pair. Their Sounds Outside EP has captivated music lovers through both live shows and online, and they’re about to take off for a tour in February.
Their next show is on January 21st at Silverlake Lounge. Get their before 9:00pm to make sure you’ve got a good view and a close proximity for the performance. It’ll be an experience. Until then, check out our exclusive interview with VOICEsVOICEs below!
