Sigh—the Weezer blitzkrieg of 2010 continues to roll irrevocably and mercilessly onward, like the inevitability of death itself but far more depressing (seriously, did you listen to Hurley?). After releasing the aforementioned Hurley, and the announcement of the Blinkerton tour, Weezer has also announced a new album of old material—a rarities compilation called Death to False Metal.

Weezer‘s video for their latest single, “Memories,” from Hurley may have made Jackasses of themselves and the new tour may be named after the new song but it’s still pretty exciting to know that this tour will focus on the material released when Weezer seemed like they could do no wrong. Let’s be honest, “The Blue Album” (self-titled debut LP) and Pinkerton were the albums that really solidified their fan base.
Hardcore Weezer fans can now rejoice because the first two tour dates of the Blue/Pinkerton tour were just announced. The tour will have the band play a city two nights in a row with the first evening featuring songs from The Blue Album while the second night features songs from Pinkerton. See below if they’re hitting your town first!

Weezer’s latest video for “Memories” finds the band mixing it up with Johnny Knoxville, Steve-O and the rest of the ‘Jackass’ cast of characters.
Filmed on grainy, Super-8 cameras, the video features the band performing poolside while the professional jackasses do what they do best with various skateboard and bike stunts, plus the usual, amusing stupidity.

Random? Yes. Awesome? You bet. A new high point in album cover art.
Check below to see the new album art for Hurley!

Now that Spain and Netherlands have been revealed as the two teams competing in the finals for the World Cup, people have been going crazier than usual. We’re sure there are certain people who are already skipping out on class or work to go to their favorite bar and watch the games. We’re also sure everyone who is attempting to stay responsible and fulfill their duties are streaming the game online anyway! There’s an inexplicable rush that comes from the anxiety when one watches football (er… soccer). The Superbowl is for babies and there’s a lace of a different crazy injected into our adrenaline that makes the World Cup matter even more than the Olympics.

Coming off of the annoying Ratitude album, as well as the even more annoying World Cup Song “Represent,” once-great nerd-rockers Weezer have been rather busy of late. They haven’t quite entered the Ryan Adams-level of hyper-prolificacy, but Spinner reports that Weezer frontman Rivers Cuomo has just completed a song with Adams, which may be the next best (and, believe me, I use the term ‘best’ very loosely here) thing.

There’s no doubt that everyone in the office is streaming the World Cup tournament today. Soccer or “football” fanatics are going crazy in their cubicles if they’re not already playing hooky and boozing it up in the bars and shouting at the TV screen. Yes, Americans. There is something bigger than the Superbowl.
We previously shared how Shakira, Black Eyed Peas, John Legend, Alicia Keys, BLK JKS, Tinariwen and more planned to contribute to the festivities, but we got something out of nowhere from Weezer! Listen now…
