We are still out in the beautiful state of Washington and need to give you an update on all the fun that is going on at the Sasquatch Festival. On Sunday we discovered a new acoustic tent where we had the opportunity to catch some of the bands playing the larger stages in an intimate stripped down setting. The chance to catch Flogging Molly or Fitz and the Tantrums with just 50 other people, dancing arm in arm, was something rather spectacular. But for its 10th year, who wouldn’t expect anything but the best.

Brooklyn’s Yeasayer made a case for a much larger stage upon their next visit to Coachella with a Friday afternoon set that packed the Mojave tent tight with sweaty hipsters and frat-y bros alike, with fans spilling out well past the large tent’s perimeter as the band laid down their inimitable brand of lively, skinny-jean’d jungle pop and experimentalism.
Definitely deserving of a larger stage, the band drove the fervent crowd into giddy mini-frenzies with the sinuous, propulsive rhythms, dirty grooves and giddy harmonies of their latest disc, the aptly titled Odd Blood.

Yeasayer, the Brooklyn based experimental rock band, has made a name for themselves long before their second full-length album, Odd Blood, was released on February 8th of this year. Often compared to Animal Collective and Dirty Projectors, the band describes their eclectic and psychedelic sound on Odd Blood as “Middle Eastern-psych-snap-gospel”, diving deeper into electronic beats and heavy synthetics than their first studio album released in 2007, All Hour Cymbals.

Brooklynites, Yeasayer, are back with a new video for their track, “O.N.E.” off of their latest album, Odd Blood. They’ve snagged the same director used for NSWF-ish and incredibly trippy, “Ambling Alp,” and once again it’s complete eye candy during every second. The previous video may have involved face massaging and body parts but with “O.N.E.’ using a dance club as its setting the visuals are expected to be a bit more dynamic and crazier to match the tone of the song.

Brooklyn-based experimental band, Yeasayer recently returned with “Ambling Alp,” an amazing debut single from their upcoming album, Odd Blood. Now they’ve released a video for it, and we can’t help but be just a little freaked out by it. It’s visually phenomenal but it’s also incredibly bizarre.
Directed by duo, Radical Friend, the video features the face whether it is being massaged, replaced by mirrors, dripping, floating, or shooting out toward others. Enjoy the video for the great song below! Oh, and it may be just a tad NSFW…

So apparently, Toyota really cares about the status of our independent radio stations today. Toyota Yaris teamed up with Urban Outfitters to run the Free YR Radio campaign to prove it. Does this make Toyota cool? Not really. Does making CDs with music we like on them cool? Yes – even better when you only have to pay 99 cents.
Next Tuesday, January 27, they will be releasing The Free Yr Radio 2008 Benefit Compilation (I know; They couldn’t have come up with a better title?), which features unreleased material from great bands like No Age, Yeasayer, and more. The CD is only available through InSound. By looking at the track list, you’ll get much more than the 99 cent worth though!
Help generate awareness for independent radio and check out the track list below!
