Yoko Ono headlined a benefit concert for Japan at Columbia University’s Miller Theater yesterday, March 27, raising an impressive $33,000 according to Rolling Stone. Also participating in the event were “art-rock” heroes Sonic Youth, Faith No More vocalist Mike Patton, as well as several other musicians.
Yoko Ono joins the likes of pop stars like Lady Gaga and Gwen Stefani, who have both contributed to relief efforts since the earthquake and tsunami devastated Japan.

Yoko Ono has already begun a lavish celebration in honor of her late husband and former Beatles member, John Lennon. However, she and EMI will continue to celebrate his 70th birthday and this time around they plan on inviting fans from all over the world to join. Lennon’s widow and EMI Music have prepared a special 24 hours exclusively on YouTube which will feature tons of tributes from famous friends and such as Ringo Starr, Brian Wilson, Aerosmith, The Jonas Brothers, Jeff Bridges, Tony Hawk, Bret Michaels, DMC (of RUN DMC), Brandon Boyd (of Incubus), Brian Walton and plenty more. Pop star/meat dress devotee Lady Gaga joined Yoko Ono to perform two songs at the conclusion of a 3-hour, Plastic Ono Band show at the Orpheum Theater in Los Angeles Saturday night.
As one might have predicted (or not), 24-year-old Gaga and 77-year-old Ono closed the performance lying on a grand piano together.
The Plastic Ono Band show commences a host of upcoming celebrations planned for October 9, which would have been John Lennon’s 70th birthday.

Because a fan paying $15,000 dollars for his 40-year-old toilet isn’t enough, Yoko Ono is throwing a two-day, all-star bash for her late husband, John Lennon, this October in Los Angeles. Set to be held at the Orpheum Theatre on October 1-2, the We Are Plastic Ono Band concerts will feature the pant-suited and blank-eyed stare of Ono’s caterwauling performing Plastic Ono Band tunes backed by a band featuring her son Sean Lennon, as well as numerous high-profile guest performances.

Mark David Chapman, the man who killed famous and beloved Beatles member, John Lennon, nearly 30 years ago has been serving his 20 years-to-life sentence has requested parole for the sixth time. However, Lennon’s widow Yoko Ono, a musician in her own right, is weighing in with the same opposition since Chapman became eligible for parole in 2000.
According to Reuters, a three member parole board panel are scheduled to interview and review Chapman’s bid again. Ono has been and will continue to be very adamant on how she feels about Chapman’s possible release by stating these personal concerns in her most recent letter:

To celebrate what would have been John Lennon’s 70th birthday, EMI has announced that the ex-Beatle’s solo catalog will be reissued as digitally remastered editions from his original mixes; the wave of new releases includes eight solo titles, a best-of compilation, a four-CD box set and an 11-CD collectors set.
Yoko Ono and a team of engineers have been working on the project in New York and London’s Abbey Road Studios.
The John Lennon “Gimme Some Truth” campaign gets underway October 5th with the release of eight remastered studio albums.

John Lennon turns 69-years-old today. Not literally of course, but in our hearts Lennon still lives on through the music and artistry that he created during his legendary career. According to Barista Net, to celebrate the life of this wonderful man, Montclair is hosting an exhibition of Lennon’s artwork called “We All Shine On,” over the next three weeks. The exhibition will be co-sponsored by Montclair’s BID and Yoko Ono‘s Legacy Fine Arts and Production.
