It’s been 40 years since John Lennon and Yoko Ono had encouraged people to “Give Peace A Chance.” As passionate political activists, Lennon and Ono had their say on the world and its constant turmoil. Along with “Instant Karma!” and “Imagine,” the song is in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 500 Songs That Shaped Rock and Roll.
Which one do you like better? “Give Peace A Chance” was created during the famous Bed-Ins where he and Ono protested by staying in bed for two weeks while they spoke to press. “Imagine” was inspired by some of Ono’s poetry and is ultimately about anti-religion, anti-nationalism, anti-conventionalism, and anti-capitalism but has a pretty down-tempo melody that sugar coats it all.
Which of these two “peace” songs is the better one? Vote and let us know! Also, check out the original footage from the Amsterdam & Montreal Bed-Ins in 1969 below.

Rare, little seen footage of John Lennon from 1970 is going to remain just that – rare, and most likely never to be seen by a general public. A federal judge has ruled that Yoko Ono is the rightful copyright holder of rare, intimate footage showing John Lennon and his family in London in 1970.
According to the AP, U.S. District Court Judge Rya W. Zobel refused to reinstate a copyright-infringement lawsuit filed by a Lawrence, Mass.-based company against Lennon’s widow and the broker who sold her the tapes.

Thanks to Yoko Ono, it is now officially cool to have humanitarian-themed dance parties. At least that’s what Billboard’s 2008 Hot Dance Club Play Artist of the Year chart would indicate, placing Ono at #4 alongside Britney Spears, Rihanna, and Natasha Bedingfield.
Ono will release Give Peace a Chance (The International Remixes) on Feb. 18 as the last installment in her three-part digital-only remix singles series.

Back in 1973, John Lennon reportedly had a few too many after leaving Yoko and was recorded singing the Lloyd Price song “Just Because”(a song her later recorded and put on the album Rock ‘n’ Roll). As drunk people often do he improvised the lyrics a bit, making the recording pretty unique, and pretty valuable.
At an auction this past weekend the six minute track went for a whopping $30,000 at LA auctioneers Bonhams and Butterfields. Check out one of Lennon’s improvised lyrics after the break:
